Ogre Cave Audio Report at GENCON 2006, Mike Sugarbaker:
"Lee Valentine [of Veritas Games has] been doing a lot to make the game accessible not just to players but to retailers. Besides there being three different complexity levels to which you can dial the game, the simplest (which we played) has considerable depth without bogging down. It's like a fast Euro card game, only with more guys in tights smacking each other in the face. People who like CCG-style play but haven't got time for the pain, or just want a game with a great superhero feel, need to look for this one."
Inquest #139, Brent Fishbaugh:
"If you are looking for a comic-based game that's a bit flashier with more chrome [than Upper Deck's Vs. System1], Powerstorm might just be what the doctor (Doom2) ordered... Powerstorm may just require the most mental muscle to play of all the games coming out this fall."
Scrye #105, Mike Greenholdt:
"It is in the wealth of details that Powerstorm makes its mark... [Powerstorm is] an intensely strategic game that favors decision-making over luck... Top Cow® fans will naturally be enraptured, anime fans may also find the setting and mechanics congenial."
Pandora's Gate, Sept. 2006, Editor:
Pandora's Gate rated Powerstorm among the "best of the best" at GENCON 2006, and wrote that, "The mechanics were simple to pick up and offered higher levels of complexity for people who were experienced in collectible card games."
Shannon Appelcline, RPG.NET:
Overall I found Powerstorm an attractive and fairly easy-to-use CCG … the gameplay of Powerstorm is quite interesting, particularly so, I think, because it’s very different from most CCGs out there.
